⚡ Quick Answer

A clogged drain filter is the most common cause. Clean the filter, check for hose kinks, and verify the drain hose height is correct.

Electrolux Washer Not Draining Completely — What’s Happening

When your Electrolux washer is not draining completely, it means the machine is leaving standing water in the drum after a cycle. The drain path, drain pump, pump filter, hose routing, or control circuit is restricting or failing to evacuate water properly. Electrolux troubleshooting points to blockages in the filter, kinked or incorrectly positioned drain hoses, clogged household drains, or a failing pump as the primary culprits.

This symptom is usually a mechanical or installation problem rather than an electronics failure. Most Electrolux front-load models use diagnostic test mode (often test 11 for drain/spin) to help identify the underlying fault, but no single universal error code corresponds to incomplete draining across all models.

How to Diagnose and Fix

  1. Enter diagnostic mode for your specific Electrolux model and retrieve any stored fault codes, then run the drain/spin test if available.
  2. Inspect the drain hose from the washer to the standpipe or sink for kinks, twists, crush points, and verify the hose height and insertion depth meet Electrolux specifications (typically 30 to 38 inches above the floor, not sealed tightly in the standpipe).
  3. Confirm the household drain, sink trap, or standpipe is flowing freely by running water through it separately.
  4. Open the pump filter access door (usually behind a lower front panel), drain any remaining water, remove and clean the filter, and inspect the pump impeller through the filter opening for obstructions.
  5. If the filter and impeller are clear, remove the drain pump, check the impeller for binding or damage, and test the pump coil with a multimeter for continuity and correct resistance.
  6. Inspect the pump wiring harness and connector for corrosion, damage, or loose terminals.
  7. Perform a live voltage test at the pump connector while commanding a drain cycle in diagnostic mode to confirm the control board is sending power to the pump.
  8. If voltage is present but the pump does not run, replace the pump. If voltage is absent and all wiring is intact, the control board is the likely fault.

Drain pump assemblyAmazon | Model-specific. Verify part number by model and serial tag.
Drain filter / pump filterAmazon | Clean first. Only replace if cracked or damaged.
Drain hoseAmazon | Replace if kinked, crushed, or internally clogged and not clearable.

If your appliance also shows a code on the display, these match this problem:

When to Call a Pro

Call a professional if you are not comfortable entering diagnostic mode, working with live voltage, or removing the drain pump. If you have cleaned the filter, verified correct hose installation, confirmed the household drain is clear, and the washer still does not drain completely, a technician can perform live voltage tests, interpret fault codes, and safely replace the pump or control board. Any repair involving the control board or complex wiring harness is best handled by a qualified appliance technician.
