Bosch Washer Won’t Fill with Water — What’s Happening

When your Bosch washer won’t fill with water, the machine cannot begin or complete the fill phase because incoming water is not reaching the tub normally. The cycle may stall, the drum stays dry, or the washer displays a timeout or fill-related fault code depending on your model.

Bosch troubleshooting guidance points to water supply problems, hose and filter blockages, hose kinks, low inlet pressure, and door lock issues as the root causes. The exact fault code varies by model, so this guide focuses on the physical conditions that prevent water flow rather than decoding a single error number.

How to Diagnose and Fix

  1. Confirm the home water tap feeding the washer is fully open and check that other fixtures in the house show normal flow and pressure.
  2. Measure flow at the supply tap by filling a bucket for six seconds and multiplying litres by ten to estimate litres per minute (Bosch specifies approximately 10 L/min).
  3. Pull the washer forward and inspect both the cold water fill hose and the waste water hose for kinks, sharp bends, or crush points along their routing.
  4. Shut off the water supply, disconnect the inlet hose at both ends, and remove and rinse the inlet filter screens under running water with a small brush (clean the Aqua-Stop filter if your model has one).
  5. Disconnect the waste hose from the siphon connection, place the open end in a bucket, and run the drain programme to verify the hose and siphon are clear.
  6. Close the door firmly and listen for the audible lock click, checking the door seal for trapped laundry or objects that prevent full closure.
  7. If supply, hoses, filters, and door are all correct, test the water inlet valve for continuity and verify it opens when 120 or 230 V AC (depending on region) is applied during a fill cycle.
  8. Replace the inlet valve if it shows no continuity, fails to open, or remains stuck closed, then reassemble and run a test wash to confirm normal fill.

Parts You Might Need

PartNotes
Water inlet valveAmazon | Solenoid valve assembly, usually two coils for hot and cold (confirm voltage and port count for your model).
Inlet hose filter screensAmazon | Fine mesh washers that press into the hose connection and valve body.

If your appliance also shows a code on the display, these match this problem:

When to Call a Pro

Call a technician if you have verified full water pressure, cleaned all filters, straightened all hoses, confirmed door lock, and the washer still will not fill. Inlet valve replacement requires disconnecting water and power and may involve removing cabinet panels or the top cover. If you see water pooling in the Aqua-Stop base tray or the machine shows a persistent fault code after you have addressed supply issues, professional diagnosis of the control board, pressure switch, or flowmeter may be needed.
