⚡ Quick Answer

Usually caused by low water pressure or a clogged dispenser drawer. Clean the drawer and housing, then check water supply flow.

Bosch Washer Not Dispensing Detergent — What’s Happening

When a Bosch washer does not dispense detergent, it means detergent remains in the drawer after the cycle because the drawer was not flushed properly or the dispenser path is blocked. On Bosch dishwashers, the symptom means the detergent cup door did not open correctly or the detergent was not released into the wash water.

This is not an error code. It is a functional failure of the dispensing system. Bosch support identifies low water pressure, clogged dispenser components, and defective water inlet valves as the most common culprits.

How to Diagnose and Fix

  1. Run a test cycle and confirm detergent remains in the drawer or cup after the wash completes.
  2. Open the water supply tap fully and verify strong flow. Bosch specifies a target of about 10 litres per minute at the tap for washers.
  3. Remove the dispenser drawer (or open the dishwasher detergent cup) and clean all residue, caked detergent, and buildup from the drawer, housing, and siphon paths.
  4. Inspect the dispenser for broken parts, warped cups, stuck lids, weak springs, damaged hinges, or misalignment. On dishwashers, check that racks and utensils do not block the detergent door.
  5. Check the inlet hose screens and filters for sediment or debris and clean or replace as needed.
  6. Test the water inlet valve for proper operation. If water pressure is acceptable but the dispenser is not flushed, replace the inlet valve.
  7. Use a multimeter to verify voltage reaches the inlet valve or dispenser component during the fill or wash cycle. If not, inspect wiring and the control board.
  8. Retest with an empty load after repair to confirm detergent is flushed or dispensed correctly.

Parts You Might Need

When to Call a Pro

Call a professional if you have verified adequate water pressure and cleaned all dispenser components but detergent still does not flush, or if you are not comfortable testing electrical components with a multimeter. A technician can test the inlet valve under operating conditions, trace wiring faults, and diagnose control board issues that require specialized tools or board replacement.
