⚡ Quick Answer

Usually a burned-out broil element. Check for visible damage, then test for 240 VAC at the element terminals when broil is selected.

Samsung Oven Broiler Not Working — What’s Happening

When your Samsung oven broiler is not working, the oven is receiving the broil command but the broil element is not producing heat. In electric models, this means the broil circuit is not completing or the element itself has failed. A healthy broil element should glow red hot within a minute or two of selecting broil.

The symptom is not a unique fault code. Instead, it is a heating failure that points to one of three areas: the broil element has burned out and become open-circuit, the supply wiring or terminals feeding the element are damaged or disconnected, or the control board is not sending 240 VAC to the element when broil is selected.

How to Diagnose and Fix

  1. Disconnect power at the breaker or unplug the range before any access or testing.
  2. Access the broil element (usually inside the top of the oven cavity or at the rear) and visually inspect for obvious damage, burned terminals, or discolored wiring.
  3. Set the oven to broil and use a multimeter to check for 240 VAC across the two broil element terminals.
  4. If voltage is present but the element does not heat, disconnect power again and test the element for continuity and resistance (typical range is roughly 10 to 50 ohms).
  5. If the element is open or out of range, replace the broil element.
  6. If voltage is missing at the element, inspect the wiring harness, spade connectors, and control board output path for burns, breaks, or loose connections.
  7. Repair any damaged wiring or replace the control board if it is not sending voltage to the element.
  8. Reassemble, restore power, and verify the broil element glows red and heats properly on broil.

Parts You Might Need

PartNotes
Samsung oven broil elementAmazon | Most common failure. Match by model number.
Wire harness or supply wires for broil elementAmazon | Replace if burned or broken near the element.
Electronic control boardAmazon | Required if the board is not sending 240 VAC to the element.

If your appliance also shows a code on the display, these match this problem:

When to Call a Pro

Call a pro if you are not comfortable working with 240 VAC, if you cannot access the broil element safely, or if voltage testing and wiring inspection are beyond your skill level. Also call a technician if you have replaced the element and wiring but the broiler still does not work, since that points to a control board or deeper electrical fault that requires specialized diagnosis and parts. For gas line, burner, or igniter work, or if you ever smell gas, stop and call a licensed technician.
