Yale Forklift Error Codes - Complete Guide

⚡ Quick Answer

Yale forklift error codes for ERC, GDP, and GLP series: fault codes, causes, diagnostic steps, and repair guidance.

Yale Forklift Error Codes - Quick Reference

Yale forklifts (ERC electric counterbalanced, GDP/GLP IC, and MSW reach trucks) display error codes on the Yale Logiq System display. Yale and Hyster share the same parent company (Hyster-Yale) and similar diagnostic platforms.

CodeMeaningQuick Fix

Most Common Faults

01 - Drive Motor Overheat

Yale electric forklifts use AC traction motors with thermal protection. Overheat faults typically occur in high-duty applications or when the motor ventilation is blocked by debris. Allow the truck to cool with the key off for at least 20 minutes. If the fault returns quickly, inspect the motor case for dust blockage and check the thermal sensor value via the service display.

04 - Low Battery Voltage

Yale trucks cut power at a preset battery discharge level (typically 20% remaining) to protect flooded or AGM lead-acid battery cells. Always charge to 100% and equalize flooded batteries weekly. Check individual cell specific gravity - dead or weak cells reduce overall battery voltage and cause premature shutdowns.

07 - CAN Communication Fault

Yale and Hyster share CANBUS architecture between the main traction controller, the display, and hydraulic/steer modules. A CAN fault means one or more modules have stopped communicating. Inspect the CAN bus harness for chafing - particularly in areas where the harness crosses the mast or overhead guard hinges.

06 - Brake Fault

Yale uses electromagnetic brakes on AC motor models. The brake monitoring circuit checks that the brake engages and releases properly. Common causes: worn brake lining (doesn’t fully release), failed brake coil (won’t release at all), or monitoring switch out of adjustment. Check brake coil resistance - typically 10–30 ohms at 24VDC or 48VDC depending on truck model.

When to Call a Pro

Yale mast and hydraulic repairs, lithium-ion battery systems, and controller calibration require Yale-Hyster authorized service. PC service tool access and fault code calibration procedures are not publicly documented.
