Maytag Dishwasher Leaking — What’s Happening

A Maytag dishwasher leaking is a symptom, not a single fault. Water can show up at the front door, underneath the machine, or around the sides. Maytag’s own guidance points to the door gasket, water supply line, drain hose, filter, detergent type, leveling, and door latch as the common culprits.

The leak location helps narrow the cause. Front-door drips usually mean a gasket or latch problem. Water pooling under the left front corner often traces to the inlet connection. Leaks from the back or right side point to the drain hose or clamp issues.

Most Likely Causes

How to Diagnose and Fix

  1. Shut off power at the breaker and close the water supply valve under the sink before any inspection or repair.
  2. Identify where water appears: front door, left-front corner underneath, or rear and right side to narrow the failure zone.
  3. Inspect the door gasket for food debris, tears, looseness, or gaps, wipe it clean, and press it firmly into the channel all the way around.
  4. Remove the toe kick panel and check the water inlet connection at the left front for dampness, tighten the coupling, and replace the supply line if cracked.
  5. Pull out the dishwasher enough to trace the drain hose from the pump to the sink or disposal, verify the high loop or air gap is correct, check all clamps, and clear any kinks or blockages.
  6. Remove and rinse the filter at the tub floor, reinstall it fully seated, and confirm the spray arm spins freely.
  7. Place a level across the front of the dishwasher and adjust the feet until it sits flat side to side.
  8. Run a short rinse cycle with the door closed and watch for leaks at each checkpoint to confirm the repair before returning panels.

Parts You Might Need

PartNotes
Door gasket / tub sealAmazon | Model-specific rubber or vinyl seal that lines the tub opening.
Water inlet valve and supply lineAmazon | Valve body at the left front and the braided or plastic hose connecting to household water.
Drain hose and hose clampAmazon | Corrugated rubber hose from pump to sink connection, plus stainless or spring clamps.

If your appliance also shows a code on the display, these match this problem:

When to Call a Pro

Call a technician if the leak continues after you have cleaned the gasket, tightened all hose connections, cleared the filter, and verified leveling. Internal pump seals, cracked tub welds, and failed water inlet valves require cabinet removal, multimeter testing, and sometimes soldering or epoxy work that goes beyond typical owner access. If water appears inside the door panel or around electronic components, stop using the machine and get professional help to avoid shock or control-board damage.
