Frigidaire Dishwasher Control Panel Replacement — What This Part Does
The control panel and user interface board form the command center of your Frigidaire dishwasher. When you press buttons on the touchpad, the interface board interprets those inputs and sends signals to the main control board to start cycles, adjust settings, and display status. Over time, moisture contamination, corrosion at harness connections, or component failure inside the user interface assembly can stop the panel from registering button presses or communicating with the main board.
Frigidaire sells the touchpad and user interface as a single OEM console assembly. The main control board powers the interface (diagnostic checks look for 12 V AC supply to the touchpad in some models) and processes its signals. If the display works but buttons don’t respond, the touchpad assembly usually needs replacement. If nothing powers on at all, the main control board may be the culprit instead of the interface.
Signs It Needs Replacing
- Buttons do not respond when pressed You press the start or cycle buttons but the dishwasher does not react or beep.
- Display is blank or partially lit The screen stays dark or shows incomplete segments even when the door is closed and power is on.
- Only some buttons work Certain cycle or option buttons register while others are completely dead.
- Panel lights stay on constantly Indicator lights remain illuminated and cannot be cleared, even after a power cycle.
- Control lock cannot be disabled Holding the lock button for three seconds does not unlock the panel or clear the lock icon.
- Moisture or corrosion visible behind touchpad When you remove the console, you see water stains, green corrosion, or burnt marks on the interface board or connectors.
How to Replace It
- Disconnect power to the dishwasher at the breaker or unplug the unit.
- Open the dishwasher door and remove the screws securing the inner door panel or control console trim (location and count vary by model).
- Carefully separate the outer door panel or console cover to expose the user interface board and wiring harness.
- Photograph the harness connections, then unplug the ribbon cable or wire connectors linking the user interface board to the main control board.
- Inspect the connectors and cable for moisture, corrosion, or damage, and test continuity across the harness if the panel was completely unresponsive.
- Remove the mounting screws holding the user interface assembly or touchpad to the console bracket.
- Lift out the old user interface board and touchpad assembly.
- Position the new assembly in the bracket, secure it with the original screws, and reconnect the harness to the main control board.
- Reassemble the console cover and inner door panel, restore power, and test all buttons and display functions before running a cycle.

When to Call a Pro
If you are uncomfortable working with live electrical connections or if the new user interface assembly does not solve the problem, call a technician. When the touchpad tests good but the dishwasher still will not power on or accept commands, the main control board is likely at fault and requires voltage testing and board-level diagnosis. A pro can verify the 12 V AC supply to the touchpad (on applicable models), trace wiring faults, and replace the main board if needed.
