Frigidaire i30 Error Code - Causes & Fix

2 min read
⚡ Quick Answer

i30 means water in the base pan below the tub. Most common fix: remove water from the leak tray, find and repair the leak source.

Difficulty Intermediate (DIY)

Tools Multimeter , nut driver, screwdrivers

Frigidaire i30 Error Code — What It Means

The i30 code on a Frigidaire dishwasher signals an anti-flood or overfill condition. Water has been detected in the machine’s base pan (the leak tray under the tub), so the control board is stopping normal operation to protect your kitchen from a flood. This is not a door, drain, or heater fault. The unit will not run properly until the water is removed from the base pan and the source of the leak is addressed.

Common Causes

Step-by-Step Fix

  1. Disconnect power at the breaker or unplug the dishwasher before beginning any inspection or service work.
  2. Pull the unit out far enough to access the bottom of the machine and inspect the base pan or leak tray beneath the tub.
  3. Remove all standing water from the base pan using a wet-dry vacuum, towels, or sponges until the tray is completely dry.
  4. Inspect for the leak source by examining hose connections, the pump body, sump assembly, inlet valve area, and door gasket perimeter for visible seepage or moisture.
  5. Check the drain system by confirming the drain hose is not pinched or blocked, the hose height is at least 32 inches from the floor, the disposer knockout has been removed, and the filters and sump are clear.
  6. Dry the base pan completely with towels or air, reassemble the unit, restore power, and run a short test cycle while watching underneath for any renewed water entry.
  7. Repair the leaking component if the code returns, then verify no residual water remains in the base pan before putting the dishwasher back into normal service.

Parts Often Needed

PartNotes
Inlet valve (water fill valve)Amazon | Replace if overfilling is caused by a valve that does not shut off cleanly.
Drain hose and clampsAmazon | Replace if the existing hose shows cracks, splits, or leaks at the connections.
Sump assembly, pump, or related seals/gasketsAmazon | Replace the leaking component identified during your inspection of the wash system water path.

When to Call a Pro

Call a professional if you cannot safely access the base pan, if you find water but cannot locate the leak source after inspecting hoses and seals, or if the code returns immediately after drying and the problem requires disassembly of the pump or sump. A qualified appliance technician has the tools and model-specific schematics to trace intermittent leaks, test the float or leak sensor assembly in the base pan, and replace internal seals or components that are not easily accessed by a homeowner.
