⚡ Quick Answer

CPF06 is an EEPROM memory data error on the Yaskawa A1000 VFD. The most common fix is replacing the control board after reseating connections.

Most likely Power interruption during parameter save operation (the most common cause)

Yaskawa A1000 CPF06 — What It Means

CPF06 is the Yaskawa A1000’s fault code for an EEPROM Memory Data Error. The VFD has detected corrupted or unreadable data in the EEPROM chip on the control board, which stores calibration settings and user parameters. This is a control board failure indicator that prevents the drive from operating safely because the logic unit cannot verify its internal configuration data.

The fault typically appears after a power interruption during parameter changes, physical degradation of the EEPROM chip, or a poor connection between the control board and the main power board. The drive will not run until the memory error is resolved, either through reinitialization or hardware replacement.

Before You Replace Anything

Technicians sometimes replace the entire VFD unit without first reseating the control board connections and attempting parameter reinitialization, which can resolve the fault in cases where the EEPROM chip itself is not damaged.

Quick Diagnosis

Answer these to narrow it down fast.

Does the fault clear after a full power cycle (5 minutes off, then back on)?
Yes: The fault was likely a transient data error. Monitor the drive for recurrence and document any pattern of when it appears.
No: The EEPROM corruption is persistent. Proceed to reinitialization and connection checks.
Can you access the parameter menu to set A1-03 to 2220 for full reinitialization?
Yes: Perform the factory reset, power cycle again, and check if the fault clears. If not, the control board hardware is damaged.
No: The fault is blocking menu access, indicating severe memory corruption. Proceed directly to hardware inspection and board replacement.
Are there any visible burn marks or damaged components on the control board?
Yes: The control board has physical damage and must be replaced. Do not attempt further resets.
No: Reseat all connections between the control board and main power board, then retry initialization before ordering replacement parts.

Step-by-Step Fix

  1. Turn off main power and wait at least 5 minutes until all internal LEDs are off to make sure capacitors are fully discharged.
  2. Power the drive back on and observe whether the CPF06 fault clears automatically on startup.
  3. Attempt reinitialization by setting parameter A1-03 to 2220 (consult your model’s manual for the exact code) to restore factory defaults, then power cycle again.
  4. Open the drive enclosure (with power off and locked out) and visually inspect the control board for burnt components, swollen capacitors, or corrosion.
  5. Reseat the control board by disconnecting and firmly reconnecting all ribbon cables and connectors between the control board and main power board.
  6. Verify internal DC voltages on the control board power supply rails (typically 5V and 24V) using a multimeter to confirm stable logic power.
  7. Replace the control board if the fault persists after reseating and reinitialization, or replace the entire VFD unit if the control board is integrated and not sold separately.

When to Call a Pro

Call a qualified VFD technician or industrial electrician for CPF06 faults. This repair involves working inside a high-voltage inverter enclosure with exposed DC bus capacitors that can remain charged at lethal voltages even after the main power is off. Proper lockout procedures, discharge verification with calibrated meters, and knowledge of control board diagnostics are required. Technicians will also verify that the replacement board is correctly configured for your motor and application parameters to avoid immediate failure or runaway conditions on restart.

Rough cost: A pro service call runs about $400-900 for control board replacement including labor.
