Whirlpool Washer F9E1 Error Code — What It Means

F9E1 is a long drain code. The washer could not pump out water within the expected time, usually around eight minutes. It appears on front load, top load, and all in one Whirlpool models.

Step-by-Step Fix

  1. Unplug the washer so you can inspect the drain system safely.
  2. Open the lower panel, set out a pan and towel, and clean the drain pump filter.
  3. Clear the bellows drain holes and the door seal area of trapped debris.
  4. Check that the drain hose sits no more than 4.5 inches into the standpipe.
  5. Confirm the standpipe height falls inside the range your manual lists for your model.
  6. Leave an air gap at the drain and never tape the hose into the pipe.
  7. Restore power and run a Drain and Spin, then replace the drain pump if water still pools.
