Whirlpool Oven F3 E0 Error Code - Causes & Fix

2 min read
⚡ Quick Answer

F3 E0 is an open oven temperature sensor circuit. Most fixes replace the RTD sensor that should read about 1080 ohms at room temperature.

Difficulty Intermediate (DIY)
Est. time 15-60 min
Tools Multimeter , nut driver, screwdrivers

Whirlpool Oven F3 E0 Error Code — What It Means

F3 E0 means the oven control sees an open circuit in the temperature sensing system. The oven temperature sensor, called an RTD, has lost continuity or its wiring has broken.

Whirlpool notes the problem can be the sensor, the control, or the wiring between them. A healthy sensor reads around 1080 ohms at 70 degrees F, so testing it tells you fast whether the part has failed.

Common Causes

Step-by-Step Fix

  1. Cut power at the breaker for one minute, then restore it to clear a one-time trip.
  2. If the code returns, pull the oven out and remove the rear panel to reach the sensor connector.
  3. Unplug the sensor and set a meter to ohms across its two terminals.
  4. Read the resistance. A good sensor measures about 1080 ohms at room temperature.
  5. Replace the oven temperature sensor if it reads open or far from 1080 ohms.
  6. Inspect the harness and connector for burned or loose pins and repair as needed.
  7. Reassemble, restore power, and confirm the oven heats without the code.

Parts Often Needed

PartNotes
Whirlpool oven temperature sensor (RTD)Amazon | Should read near 1080 ohms at 70 degrees F, sold by model number.
Oven sensor wire harnessAmazon | Replace if the wiring is burned, brittle, or broken at the connector.

When to Call a Pro

If the sensor reads correct but F3 E0 stays, the fault is in the wiring or control board. A technician can trace the circuit and confirm which part to replace.
