⚡ Quick Answer

A tripped breaker or loose power cord connection is the most common cause. Check the breaker, plug, and outlet first before opening the dryer.

Samsung Dryer No Power — What’s Happening

A Samsung dryer with no power means the unit has no electrical supply, loses incoming power, or the control panel and user interface won’t light up. Samsung’s troubleshooting for this symptom starts with the breaker, plug, cord, and outlet rather than an internal fault code.

If your dryer control panel powers on but the drum won’t start or spin, Samsung treats that as a separate issue and recommends checking for an error code or Child Lock first. True no-power symptoms mean no lights, no sounds, and no response when you press buttons.

How to Diagnose and Fix

  1. Turn off the dryer circuit breaker at the panel and unplug the power cord from the wall outlet before inspecting or opening anything.
  2. Check the circuit breaker for a tripped position and reset it if needed, then inspect the wall outlet and plug for burn marks, melting, or looseness.
  3. Verify that the outlet is delivering proper voltage (240 volts for electric dryers) using a multimeter before moving inside the dryer.
  4. Pull the dryer away from the wall and inspect the power cord and its connection to the terminal block for heat damage, loose wires, or burnt terminals.
  5. If the terminal block shows heat damage or burnt connections, replace the terminal block and any damaged wiring rather than trying to clean and reuse it.
  6. If power supply and terminal block are good but the dryer still won’t power on, remove the top or rear panel and test the thermal fuse on the blower housing with a multimeter for continuity.
  7. Test the door switch, start switch, and belt switch for continuity with a multimeter if the panel lights up but the dryer won’t start a cycle.
  8. If all safety devices test good and the dryer still has no power or no panel response, inspect the main control board and user interface board connectors and replace the failed board as needed.

When to Call a Pro

Call a technician if you are not comfortable working with 240-volt power, if you cannot safely verify voltage at the outlet or terminal block, or if you have tested the power supply and safety devices but the dryer still won’t respond. Board-level diagnosis and replacement requires disassembly and connector work that many owners prefer to leave to a pro. If the terminal block or outlet shows heavy burn damage, an electrician or appliance tech should inspect the full circuit and wiring before you use the dryer again.
