⚡ Quick Answer

Leaking base, LC code, standing water, and pooling under the unit mean a damaged or kinked drain hose. Replacing it stops leaks and draining faults.

Samsung Dishwasher Drain Hose Replacement — What This Part Does

The drain hose carries waste water from the dishwasher’s drain pump out to your home’s drain line or garbage disposal. Samsung machines route this hose either through an air gap at the countertop or in a high loop under the sink, then down to the drain connection. The hose fails when it develops a split or crack from age, gets kinked during installation, or rubs against a sharp edge in the cabinet. Internal damage or blockage can also prevent proper drainage.

On some Samsung models a shorter internal pump hose connects the drain pump to the water panel inside the base. This hose uses spring clamps and can crack or split at the fittings. When either hose leaks, the dishwasher may trigger an LC (leak check) code and enter a constant drain cycle. Incorrect hose routing, using both a high loop and an air gap together, or forgetting to remove the knockout plug from a garbage disposal will also cause drain errors even when the hose itself is intact.

Signs It Needs Replacing

How to Replace It

  1. Disconnect power at the breaker or unplug the dishwasher from the wall outlet, then turn off the water supply valve under the sink.
  2. Remove the lower kickplate or access panel by loosening the retaining screws along the bottom edge of the door.
  3. If replacing the internal pump hose, tip the dishwasher back gently or remove the side access panel to reach the pump and water-panel connections inside the base.
  4. Squeeze or release the spring clamp at the pump end of the old hose and slide the hose off the fitting, then repeat at the water-panel or drain-port end.
  5. For the external drain hose, disconnect the hose clamp at the drain pump outlet under the dishwasher, then go under the sink and loosen the clamp at the air gap, high loop, or disposal inlet.
  6. Pull the old hose free from the cabinet path, noting the routing and any support clips or retainers that hold it in place.
  7. Feed the new drain hose through the same path, making sure it is not twisted, kinked, or over-extended beyond the manufacturer’s recommended length.
  8. Attach the new hose at both ends using the original spring clamps or new hose clamps, and confirm each connection is tight and seated fully onto the fitting.
  9. Route the external hose so it forms a high loop at least 10 inches above the drain connection under the sink, or connect it to an air gap, but do not use both methods together.
  10. If connecting to a garbage disposal, verify the knockout plug inside the disposal inlet has been removed before securing the hose.
  11. Reinstall all access panels and the kickplate, restore water and power, then run a short rinse cycle and check for leaks at both hose ends and along the cabinet run.

Samsung dishwasher drain hoseAmazon | Part numbers DD67-00059A, DD81-02331A, and DD97-00403E are model-specific; check the model and serial plate inside the door frame or on the side of the tub to find your exact hose number.
Samsung drain pump hose (internal)Amazon | Part DD81-01502A fits StormWash and similar models with a separate pump-to-water-panel hose; verify your model schematic before ordering.
Stainless hose clampsAmazon | Use adjustable clamps sized for the hose outer diameter to secure both the pump and drain ends; Samsung recommends clamps at every connection point.

When to Call a Pro

If the LC code persists after you replace the hose and confirm proper routing, the leak sensor, drain pump, or control board may be faulty and requires diagnostic equipment. Any repair that involves removing the dishwasher from the cabinet, cutting into cabinetry to reroute plumbing, or installing a new air gap through the countertop is best handled by a licensed plumber or appliance technician. If you see water inside the door panel or around electrical connections, call a pro to avoid shock hazards and further damage to the control assembly.
