Maytag Oven F0 Error Code - Causes & Fix

2 min read
⚡ Quick Answer

F0 means the control can't identify the fault, usually a stuck keypad. Reset power for 1 minute. If it returns, replace the touchpad.

Maytag Oven F0 Error Code — What It Means

The F0 (or F0 E0) code on a Maytag oven indicates that the electronic oven control cannot recognize what type of problem has occurred. Maytag’s product help states there may be a problem with the electronic control itself or the associated wiring. In field-service practice, this code most often points to a stuck function key or a stuck cancel/function pad, which means the keypad or touchpad is sending a constant signal to the control board even when no button is being pressed.

Common Causes

Step-by-Step Fix

  1. Reset power at the circuit breaker. Turn the breaker off for a full 1 minute, then restore power and wait another 1 minute to see if the code returns.
  2. Monitor for immediate return. If F0 reappears with no keys pressed, you have a stuck-input fault rather than a user error.
  3. Inspect the keypad or touchpad. Look for a physically stuck button, visible contamination, moisture damage, or a loose ribbon-cable connection at the back of the touchpad assembly.
  4. Check wiring and connectors. Disconnect power, then inspect the harness and plug between the touchpad and the electronic control for corrosion, looseness, or pinched wires.
  5. Replace the touchpad/keypad assembly if inspection reveals damage or if the code persists after the reset and wiring is intact.
  6. Replace the electronic oven control (ERC/EOC) if a known-good or new keypad does not clear the fault, or if you see burn marks or component damage on the control board.
  7. Restore power and test by running a bake or broil cycle to confirm the fault is cleared and all functions respond normally.

Parts Often Needed

PartNotes
Touchpad / Keypad AssemblyAmazon | Match by your exact Maytag model number. This is the membrane or button panel that interfaces with the user.
Electronic Oven Control (ERC/EOC) / Clock AssemblyAmazon | The main control board. Order by model number and verify the part supersession before purchase.
Wiring Harness (Keypad to Control)Amazon | Only if inspection shows a cut, pinched, or visibly damaged wire between the touchpad and the control board.

When to Call a Pro

Call a technician if you are not comfortable working with 240-volt power, if the breaker reset and keypad inspection do not resolve the code, or if you see evidence of internal board damage that requires soldering or board-level repair. A qualified appliance technician has model-specific service manuals, diagnostic overlays, and can safely test live voltage at the control connectors to isolate the fault between the keypad and the board without replacing parts by trial.
