Most often a tripped breaker or bad outlet. Check your circuit breaker, test the wall outlet, then plug the washer directly in.

LG Washer Won’t Turn On — What’s Happening

When an LG washer won’t turn on, the machine is not receiving usable line power or its internal control power is not coming up. LG’s first-tier diagnosis treats this as a power-supply problem, not a specific error code.

The vast majority of no-power symptoms trace back to the circuit feeding the washer or the connection between the outlet and the machine. Internal component failure is less common and only considered after external power is verified good.

Most Likely Causes

How to Diagnose and Fix

  1. Check the home circuit breaker. Turn it fully off, wait five seconds, then turn it back on.
  2. Test the wall outlet with a known working lamp or nightlight to confirm the outlet is delivering power.
  3. If a GFCI outlet is present, press the reset button on the face of the outlet.
  4. Unplug the washer power cord and confirm it is plugged directly into the wall outlet, not into an extension cord or surge protector.
  5. Inspect the power cord for damage at both the machine and wall ends, and push the plug firmly into the receptacle.
  6. Perform a hard reset of the washer. With power removed, press and hold the POWER or START button for five seconds, then press and hold PLAY or PAUSE for five seconds. Restore power and try to turn the washer on.
  7. If the outlet and breaker are confirmed good and the washer still will not power up, the issue may require internal service.
  8. For front-load models, verify the door is fully closed and latching. A door-lock fault can prevent startup and will show a dE, dE1, or dE2 code if the display lights up at all.

Parts You Might Need

PartNotes
Power cordAmazon | Replace if visibly damaged or the plug blades are loose or burned.
Wall outlet or GFCI receptacleAmazon | Replace if the outlet fails to deliver power when tested with a lamp.
Main control board or inverter power sectionAmazon | Only after external power is verified. LG does not publish a universal part number for no-power symptoms.
Door lock assembly (front-load models)Amazon | If the symptom is actually a door-fault preventing start, not true dead power.

When to Call a Pro

Call a technician if the circuit breaker and outlet both check out good, the cord is secure and undamaged, and the washer still will not power on after a hard reset. Internal power-supply or control-board diagnosis requires multimeter testing and access to service mode. Also call for help if you are uncomfortable working inside your home’s breaker panel or replacing a wall outlet.
