LG Oven F19 Error Code - Causes & Fix

3 min read
⚡ Quick Answer

F19 means your LG oven isn't heating past 150°F in 5 minutes. Usually a bad temperature sensor or failed heating element needs replacing.

Difficulty Intermediate (DIY)
Est. time 15-60 min
Tools Multimeter , nut driver, screwdrivers

LG Oven F19 Error Code — What It Means

The F19 error code on an LG electric range or oven indicates an oven heating fault. LG defines this as the oven temperature failing to exceed 150°F within 5 minutes of preheating with the door closed. The control board has detected that the oven cavity is not warming as expected, so it halts operation and displays the code.

This error points to a problem somewhere in the heating circuit. The oven sensor (thermistor) may be reading incorrectly, the heating element may have failed, or wiring and connectors between these components and the control board may be loose or damaged. Less commonly, the control board itself or inadequate power supply can trigger the code.

Common Causes

Step-by-Step Fix

  1. Press CLEAR/OFF on the control panel, or turn off the range circuit breaker for 60 seconds, then restore power and try preheating again to see if the fault clears.
  2. Verify that the oven door closes completely and that you are preheating with the door shut, since LG’s heating-fault detection assumes a closed cavity.
  3. Unplug the range or turn off the breaker. Remove the oven rear panel or access the sensor from inside the cavity to locate the oven temperature sensor probe and its wiring harness.
  4. Inspect the sensor connector and harness for bent pins, corrosion, or melted plastic, then disconnect the sensor and test its resistance with a multimeter at room temperature (consult your model’s specification table for the expected value).
  5. Check the heating element for visible cracks, blistering, or separation, and use a multimeter to confirm continuity across the element terminals when disconnected from power.
  6. Measure incoming voltage at the range terminal block with the breaker on to confirm you have approximately 240 V across both hot legs and 120 V from each leg to neutral.
  7. Replace the sensor or heating element if testing shows an open circuit or out-of-range resistance, then reassemble the oven, restore power, and run a test preheat cycle to verify the repair.

Parts Often Needed

PartNotes
LG oven temperature sensor / thermistorAmazon | Match the part number to your exact model number, printed on the range data plate.
LG oven bake heating elementAmazon | Confirm element wattage and mounting-bracket style for your range series before ordering.
LG range main control board (EBR series)Amazon | Only after testing rules out sensor, element, and wiring. Verify the board part number on your existing unit.

When to Call a Pro

Call a qualified appliance technician if you are uncomfortable working with 240 V circuits, if the error returns after you have reset the unit and confirmed the door closes properly, or if your multimeter tests show conflicting results. Also bring in a pro if the heating element and sensor both test good but the code persists, since that points to a control-board fault or a subtle wiring issue that requires schematic-level diagnosis. If you suspect the house supply voltage is low or unstable, contact a licensed electrician to inspect the branch circuit and connections at the panel before replacing oven components.
