LG Oven F11 Error Code - Causes & Fix

2 min read
⚡ Quick Answer

F11 means the main control board and display board lost communication. The most likely fix is reseating ribbon cables or replacing the main control board.

LG Oven F11 Error Code — What It Means

The F11 code means the main electronic control board and the user interface or display board stopped talking to each other. These boards trade data over a ribbon cable or harness, and F11 fires when that link drops.

The fault is often a loose or damaged cable between the two boards. When the cable is sound, the main control board itself is usually the part that has failed.

Common Causes

Step-by-Step Fix

  1. Press CLEAR/OFF, then cut power at the breaker for 30 seconds and restore it.
  2. If F11 returns, fully disconnect power before opening any panel.
  3. Access the back of the unit to reach the main board and display board.
  4. Reseat the ribbon cable and every harness between the two boards.
  5. Inspect connectors for scorch marks, bent pins, or broken wires.
  6. Replace the main control board if cables are tight and undamaged but F11 stays.
  7. Restore power and confirm the display and controls respond normally.

Parts Often Needed

PartNotes
LG range main control boardAmazon | Match the part number to your exact model and revision.
Board to display ribbon cableAmazon | Order if the cable is cracked or the contacts are corroded.
User interface (display) boardAmazon | Replace if the display side is confirmed dead.

When to Call a Pro

Bring in a technician if reseating the cables does not clear F11, since pinning the failure to the main board or display board takes board level testing. Anyone not comfortable working behind the control panel should hand this off.
