LG Dryer E13 Error Code - Causes & Fix

2 min read
⚡ Quick Answer

E13 on a condensing LG dryer means water is not draining. The most common fix is clearing a kinked drain hose or a clogged drain pump.

LG Dryer E13 Error Code — What It Means

E13 shows up on LG hybrid and heat pump condensing dryers. It means the unit cannot drain the water it collects, so the drain hose is kinked, crushed, clogged, or the sump water is frozen.

These models pull moisture out of your clothes and route it through a hose or pump, so any blockage in that path triggers E13.

Common Causes

Step-by-Step Fix

  1. Empty the water tank if your model collects to a removable reservoir.
  2. Straighten the drain hose behind the dryer and remove any kinks or crushes.
  3. Lower the hose so the top of its run sits no higher than about one meter off the floor.
  4. Flush the hose and sump to clear lint sludge and check that water runs free.
  5. Warm the area if the dryer sits in an unheated space and the sump may be frozen.
  6. Test the drain pump for power and free movement if the path is clear but water stays.
  7. Restart the cycle and confirm the dryer drains without throwing E13.

Parts Often Needed

PartNotes
LG dryer drain hoseAmazon | Use the standard LG hose, since longer aftermarket runs add resistance.
LG dryer drain pumpAmazon | For pump-equipped condensing models, match to your exact model number.
LG dryer sump filterAmazon | Clears the small filter that catches lint before the pump.

When to Call a Pro

If the hose and sump are clear and not frozen but E13 returns, the drain pump or a sensor inside the sealed water path is likely failing. Heat pump dryers are tightly packed, so call an appliance pro if the pump test points to a deeper teardown.
