Lennox iHarmony Zoning System Error Codes — Quick Reference
The Lennox iHarmony zoning system uses a central Zoning System Controller and motorized dampers in each zone. The iComfort thermostat displays error codes when the zone system detects a fault.
| Error | Meaning | Quick Fix |
|---|---|---|
| Zone Lost | Zone panel communication lost | Check panel power and bus wiring |
| Damper Fault | Zone damper not responding | Check damper wiring and actuator |
| Zone Sensor Error | Zone temperature sensor fault | Check sensor resistance and wiring |
| Bypass Fault | Bypass damper not responding | Check bypass damper and actuator |
| Zone Comm Error | Zone panel communication error | Check wiring and panel power |
| Discharge Limit | Discharge air too hot or cold | Check equipment operation and limits |
Most Common Faults
Zone Lost / Zone Communication Error
The iHarmony zone panel is not communicating with the thermostat. Check:
- Zone panel 24VAC power at the R and C terminals — should read 24VAC
- Communication wiring between thermostat and zone panel — check 2-wire communication bus
- Zone panel status LED — green (normal), flashing (communication), red (fault)
Damper Fault
A zone damper is not responding or not at the commanded position. The iHarmony dampers use a 24VAC motor. Check:
- Damper wiring at the zone panel terminal block
- 24VAC at the damper actuator — should energize when the zone calls
- Damper blade physically stuck — inspect for debris or ice
Bypass Fault
The bypass damper manages static pressure in the duct system when some zones close. If the bypass damper faults, the system may cause high static pressure. Check the bypass damper actuator and wiring the same way as zone dampers.
Discharge Limit Fault
The discharge air temperature is outside the configured limits. The iHarmony monitors discharge temperature to protect the equipment. Check:
- All zones are not simultaneously closed (would restrict airflow)
- Discharge limit setpoints in the system programming
- HVAC equipment operation (is the furnace or air handler producing the expected output?)
iHarmony Zone Panel LED Reference
| LED Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Solid green | Normal operation |
| Flashing green | Communication active |
| Flashing amber | Zone damper fault |
| Solid red | Major fault |
System Setup Verification
The iHarmony system must be programmed with the correct number of zones and equipment type. A mismatch between the programming and the installed hardware is a common source of faults after service or replacement.
Parts Often Needed
| Part | Notes |
|---|---|
| iHarmony zone panel | Amazon | Replace on persistent comm errors |
| Zone damper actuator | Amazon | Replace on damper fault |
| Zone temperature sensor | Amazon | Replace on sensor error |
| Bypass damper | Amazon | Inspect on high static pressure |
Jump to Fix
- Zone lost → Check 24VAC at panel → Check communication bus wiring
- Damper fault → Check wiring → Verify 24VAC at damper → Inspect blade
- Discharge limit → Check equipment output → Verify all zones not closed → Check setpoints
