KitchenAid Dishwasher F2E2 Error Code — What It Means

F2E2 is a communication fault. The user interface control in the door cannot exchange data with the electronic control board.

A loose ribbon cable or harness between the two boards is the first thing to check. If the connection is solid, one of the two boards has failed.

Common Causes

Step-by-Step Fix

  1. Disconnect power and try a full reset by leaving it off for several minutes, then restore power.
  2. If the code returns, disconnect power again and remove the inner door panel.
  3. Locate the ribbon or harness between the user interface and the control board.
  4. Reseat the ribbon and harness connectors and check for cracks or corrosion.
  5. Replace a damaged ribbon cable if that is the broken link.
  6. If the connection is sound, replace the user interface board or the control board as the fault dictates, then confirm the code clears.
