Kenmore Refrigerator Door Bin Replacement — What This Part Does

The door shelf bin is a plastic storage bin that clips to the inside of your refrigerator door and holds bottles, gallon containers, and other items. These bins are designed to slide into mounting points on the door liner and lock in place with side tabs.

Bins fail when plastic fatigues from repeated heavy loading, especially gallon milk jugs. The mounting tabs can crack or break, causing the bin to slip out or not lock into position. Incorrect part selection also causes fitment problems because Kenmore bins vary by refrigerator design and the exact model number matters.

Signs It Needs Replacing

How to Replace It

  1. Unplug the refrigerator from the wall outlet to make sure safe working conditions.
  2. Locate the model and serial number on the data plate, usually inside the fresh-food compartment along the side wall or on the ceiling, and write down the full model number for parts lookup.
  3. Cross-check the replacement bin part number against your exact Kenmore model number using the manufacturer’s parts catalog or an OEM parts supplier to confirm compatibility.
  4. Open the refrigerator door and remove any items stored in the damaged bin.
  5. Inspect the bin and the door mounting points for cracks, broken tabs, or deformation to confirm the bin is the problem and the door liner is undamaged.
  6. Lift or push the old bin upward to clear the side locking tabs from the door liner slots, then pull the bin straight out toward you.
  7. Slide the new replacement bin into the door liner mounting slots, aligning the side tabs with the slots on each side of the door.
  8. Push the bin down firmly until you hear or feel the locking tabs engage and the bin is seated flush against the door liner.
  9. Plug the refrigerator back in, close the door, and check that the bin is secure and does not interfere with door closure or operation.
