GE Oven F5 Error Code — What It Means

F5 means the electronic oven control flagged a problem in its supervisory circuit, the part of the board that watches the relays that power the elements. The control protects itself and the oven by stopping operation.

A reset clears a one time glitch on some units, but a repeating F5 almost always traces back to the control board itself.

Common Causes

Step-by-Step Fix

  1. Press Clear Off and cut power at the breaker for about 5 minutes.
  2. Restore power and watch whether F5 returns.
  3. If it returns, kill power and open the console to reach the control.
  4. Check the keypad for stuck keys and reseat the keypad ribbon connector.
  5. Reseat any plug between the control board and a separate relay board.
  6. Restore power and test. If F5 comes back, replace the control or relay board.
  7. Match the new board to the full model number before installing.
