GE Oven F0 Error Code — What It Means
F0 tells you the electronic oven control sees a key that reads as pressed when no one is touching it, or a short across the touch panel. The board reads that constant signal as a held button and stops normal operation.
On most GE ranges and wall ovens the keypad and front control panel are one assembly, so a true F0 usually points at that panel or the connection between it and the board.
Common Causes
- Stuck or shorted key A membrane key has shorted or is physically jammed and the board reads it as held down.
- Loose ribbon cable The flat ribbon between the touch panel and the control has worked loose or corroded at the connector.
- Moisture or grease intrusion Steam or cooking residue behind the panel bridges contacts and creates a false key signal.
- Failed touch panel The membrane keypad itself has degraded and now sends a bad signal even after a reset.
- Failed control board The electronic oven control has faulted and misreads the keypad input.
Step-by-Step Fix
- Cut power at the breaker for 2 to 3 minutes to force a full control reset.
- Restore power and watch whether F0 returns within a minute.
- If it returns, kill power again and remove the rear or under-panel screws to reach the control.
- Locate the flat ribbon cable from the keypad to the control and unplug it, then firmly reseat it.
- Inspect the panel and connector for moisture, grease, or burnt traces and clean gently.
- Restore power and test. If F0 stays, replace the touch panel or control panel assembly.
- Match the replacement panel to the full model number and transfer any brackets and screws.
Parts Often Needed
| Part | Notes |
|---|---|
| GE oven touch control panel assembly | Amazon | Buy by full model number since panels are model specific. |
| GE electronic oven control board | Amazon | Needed if the panel tests good and F0 persists. |
When to Call a Pro
If F0 stays after a reset and a panel swap, or you find scorched traces on the board, bring in an appliance tech. Live control wiring behind the panel carries line voltage and is not worth a guess.
