Frigidaire F94 Error Code — What It Means

The F94 code on a Frigidaire electric range or oven indicates a door lock issue. Frigidaire groups F90 through F94 together as door lock faults. The control has detected that the oven door lock cannot lock, cannot unlock, or cannot confirm its expected position. This code is part of the door lock circuit and has nothing to do with temperature sensors or heating elements.

Frigidaire’s official guidance is to press the UNLOCK button and follow any on-screen directions, then reset power if the fault does not clear. If the oven was recently used for self-cleaning, residual heat may keep the door locked until the unit cools enough to release the latch mechanically.

Common Causes

Step-by-Step Fix

  1. Reset the range by unplugging it or flipping the dedicated breaker off for at least 30 seconds, then restore power and see if the code clears.
  2. Press UNLOCK on the control panel and follow any displayed instructions to command the lock to release.
  3. Check for mechanical obstructions by opening the door (if unlocked) and confirming no racks, foil, or pan handles block the latch, and that the door aligns squarely with the strike.
  4. Observe the lock motor behavior by listening and watching the latch during an unlock attempt. If the motor does not run at all, suspect wiring or control output. If it runs continuously without stopping, suspect the lock switch.
  5. Inspect the wiring harness and connectors running from the control to the lock assembly for loose pins, corrosion, or burned insulation, and reseat every connector firmly.
  6. Test for voltage at the lock motor when the control commands a lock or unlock cycle. On many Frigidaire models the motor receives 120 VAC when commanded. If voltage is present but the motor does not move, replace the lock assembly.
  7. Replace the control board or relay board if the motor and switch test good, wiring is intact, and the fault returns after all other checks pass.

Parts Often Needed

PartNotes
Door lock motor assemblyAmazon | Includes the motorized latch actuator and often the integral position switch. Match by model number.
Lock switch (position feedback)Amazon | If sold separately on your model. Confirms locked or unlocked state to the control.
Oven control board or relay boardAmazon | Replace only after confirming the lock assembly and wiring are good. Match your exact model and serial.

When to Call a Pro

Call a technician if a power reset and the UNLOCK command do not clear the fault, or if you are not comfortable working with 240-volt wiring inside the range. Testing the lock motor for 120 VAC and tracing control signals require a multimeter and familiarity with live circuits. If the door remains locked and you cannot access the oven cavity safely, a pro can mechanically release the latch and diagnose whether the lock assembly, switch, or control board has failed. Frigidaire directs customers still within the installation or warranty window back to the installer or factory service rather than attempting field repair.
