⚡ Quick Answer

Usually a blocked defrost drain hole at the back of the fresh-food compartment. Unplug, clear the hole with a cotton bud, then wire.

Bosch Refrigerator Water Leaking on Floor — What’s Happening

A Bosch refrigerator leaking water onto the floor is not an error code. It is a physical leak condition. Normal condensate runs down a gully into a drain hole, then to an evaporation tray beneath the unit. When that drain hole becomes blocked with debris, water backs up inside the cabinet and eventually leaks out onto the floor.

Bosch does not display a fault code for this symptom. The leak can appear from the front bottom, from inside the refrigerator compartment, near the water filter housing, or from rear water connections. Timing and location help pinpoint whether the issue is the drain path, a supply-line problem, or a door-seal/leveling fault.

Most Likely Causes

How to Diagnose and Fix

  1. Verify the leak location by checking whether water appears from the front bottom, inside the cabinet, near the filter housing, or from rear connections.
  2. Unplug or switch off the refrigerator before working on the drainage system.
  3. Inspect the drainage hole at the back of the fresh-food compartment and clear it with a cotton bud first, then a flexible wire if needed (avoid sharp tools).
  4. Check the refrigerator’s leveling by placing a bubble level on top and adjusting the front feet so doors close fully and condensate drains as designed.
  5. Inspect the water supply line, all fittings, and the filter head or cartridge for cracks, looseness, or seepage.
  6. Examine door gaskets for damage, gaps, or signs of warm-air infiltration and condensation.
  7. Trace the drain tube from the hole down to the evaporation tray for ice, debris, or restriction if the hole itself is clear.
  8. Restore power, run the water or ice dispenser if equipped, and monitor the floor, drain pan, and evaporation path for any repeat leak.

Parts You Might Need

PartNotes
Defrost drain tube or drainage hole assemblyAmazon | Required if the tube is cracked, crushed, or the hole assembly is damaged beyond cleaning.
Water supply lineAmazon | Replace if kinked, cracked, or leaking at the fridge inlet or shut-off valve.
Water filter or filter housingAmazon | Swap the filter if clogged or the housing if the connection is cracked or loose.
Door gasket (seal)Amazon | Install a new seal if the old one is torn, warped, or no longer seals around the door perimeter.

If your appliance also shows a code on the display, these match this problem:

When to Call a Pro

Call a technician if clearing the drain hole and checking the water line do not stop the leak, if you find ice or blockage deep in the drain tube behind interior panels, or if the leak involves the sealed refrigeration system or internal ice-maker plumbing. A pro can pull panels safely, verify the evaporation tray and compressor area, and replace internal drain components or water valves that require refrigerant recovery or specialized disassembly.
