Yaskawa A1000 CPF11 Fault — What It Means

CPF11 on a Yaskawa A1000 variable frequency drive is a RAM fault code in the CPF control-circuit error family. The drive’s self-diagnostics have detected a hardware problem in the control circuit, specifically in the RAM or related control electronics. This is not a parameter setting or configuration issue. It is a hardware-level fault that typically requires component replacement if power cycling does not clear it.

Yaskawa’s troubleshooting documents classify CPF11 through CPF19 as control circuit errors caused by internal diagnostic failures. The fault may appear during startup or while the drive is running. Step-by-Step Fix

  1. Disconnect all power to the drive at the upstream disconnect or breaker. Lock out and tag out the power source. Wait at least five minutes for DC bus capacitors to discharge fully.
  2. Record all drive parameters using the operator keypad or DriveWizard software if the drive is still responsive. Save the parameter file for restoration after repair.
  3. Restore power and observe the fault display. If CPF11 appears immediately on power-up, proceed to the next step. If the fault does not reappear, monitor the drive and log the event.
  4. Inspect the operator keypad connector on the front of the drive. Remove the keypad, check the connector pins for damage, corrosion, or bent contacts, and make sure the cable is fully seated. Reinstall the keypad and power-cycle the drive.
  5. If the fault persists, disconnect power again and remove the front cover to access the control board. Look for visible damage such as burned components, bulging capacitors, or discoloration on the board.
  6. Replace the control board following the manufacturer’s replacement procedure. Transfer all configuration settings from your saved parameter file. Power up and verify the fault is cleared.
