⚡ Quick Answer

F0041 means stator resistance measurement failed during motor identification. Most often caused by loose motor wiring or wrong data.

Siemens Micromaster F0041 — What It Means

F0041 on a Siemens Micromaster (particularly the 440 series) indicates a stator resistance measurement failure during motor identification or commissioning. The drive attempted to measure the motor’s electrical characteristics and could not successfully determine the stator resistance, which means the auto-identification routine did not complete. This fault appears when you run the motor data identification process and the drive cannot get stable or valid resistance readings from the motor windings. It does not mean the drive is broken in most cases. It means something is preventing the drive from electrically ‘seeing’ the motor correctly.

Common Causes

Step-by-Step Fix

  1. Clear the fault by pressing the reset button on the BOP/AOP keypad, power-cycling the drive, or using Digital Input 3 if configured for reset.
  2. Verify the motor is physically connected to the drive output terminals (U, V, W) and check that all connections are tight and free of corrosion or damage.
  3. Inspect the motor cable from the drive to the motor for breaks, pinches, or signs of insulation damage, and test for continuity and insulation resistance with a multimeter.
  4. Confirm motor nameplate data matches the parameters entered in the drive (rated voltage, current, frequency, power, speed) and correct any mismatches.
  5. Check motor wiring configuration to make sure the motor is wired in the correct star or delta arrangement for the voltage and application the drive is set up for.
  6. Disconnect the mechanical load from the motor shaft or confirm the motor can turn freely by hand (power off and locked out) to rule out mechanical binding or overload.
  7. Re-run the motor identification routine using the drive keypad or commissioning software after correcting wiring, data, and load issues, and observe whether the fault clears and identification completes successfully.

Parts Often Needed

PartNotes
Motor cableAmazon | Three-phase shielded motor cable rated for VFD use, correct gauge for motor current and cable length.
Three-phase AC motorAmazon | Replacement motor matching the drive’s power rating and voltage, if windings are shorted or damaged.
Siemens Micromaster VFDAmazon | Replacement drive of the same model and rating if internal power section or measurement circuitry is faulty after all external checks pass.

When to Call a Pro

Call a qualified electrician or drive technician if you have verified all motor connections, checked the cable for faults, confirmed the motor parameters are correct, and the fault still appears after re-running identification. Persistent F0041 after external checks can indicate a problem inside the drive’s power section or measurement circuitry, or a motor with internal winding damage that requires testing with an insulation tester and motor analyzer. Also call a pro if you are not comfortable working with three-phase motor wiring or VFD commissioning procedures, as incorrect wiring or parameter entry can damage the drive or motor.
