An LG microwave door error usually appears when the control board thinks the door is still open. The door may look closed, but the interlock switches inside the latch area have not all changed state. Treat this as a safety fault, not a nuisance message to work around.
Quick Checks
- Open and close the door firmly once. Do not slam it.
- Wipe crumbs, grease, and packing debris out of the latch slots on the microwave frame.
- Inspect both latch hooks on the door. A cracked or shortened hook may not press the switch levers far enough.
- Check that the door closes squarely and does not sag at the hinge side.
- Unplug the microwave for 5 minutes, then test with a cup of water for 15 seconds.

Safe Repair Path
LG microwaves use more than one door interlock switch. Those switches must operate in the right order so the microwave cannot run with the door open. A technician will usually remove the control-side panel, test each switch for continuity, inspect the switch bracket, and confirm the latch hooks reach the levers.
Do not bypass a switch to “test” the microwave. A bypassed interlock can let the unit energize when the door is open.
