Hoshizaki KM-515 Error Codes — What They Mean
The Hoshizaki KM-515 produces approximately 515 lbs of crescent ice per day and is a standard installation in restaurants, hotels, and healthcare facilities. The error codes are identical to the KM-330 but the larger capacity means cycle time faults happen at higher ambient temperatures.
| Code | Meaning | Urgency |
|---|---|---|
| E1 | Ice making cycle too long | Medium |
| E2 | Harvest cycle too long | High |
| E3 | Harvest assist fault | High |
| E5 | High evaporator temperature | Medium |
| E9 | Compressor/refrigeration fault | High |
| F1 | Drain pump fault | Medium |
| F2 | Ice full sensor fault | Low |
KM-515 Specific Notes {#fix}
The KM-515’s higher production capacity means it pushes the condenser harder than the KM-330. In kitchens above 85°F ambient, condenser cleaning should happen every 3 months (not quarterly).
E1 high rate on KM-515: If E1 is recurring frequently after condenser cleaning, check if the machine is air-cooled and in an enclosed space. The KM-515 needs at least 4 inches of clearance on all sides and access to ambient air below 100°F.
E2 on older KM-515: Units over 5 years old with E2 often have a failing hot gas valve in addition to low refrigerant charge. Both need to be diagnosed.
