Bohn Refrigeration Error Codes — What They Mean
Bohn is a Heatcraft Refrigeration Products brand, widely used in supermarkets, convenience stores, and food distribution walk-in coolers and freezers. Bohn unit coolers use the same electronic control platform as other Heatcraft brands (Larkin, Climate Control). The alarms and codes are identical across the Heatcraft product family.

Most Common Bohn Alarms and Fixes
Alarm 1 — High Temperature
Box temp exceeded setpoint. Immediate concern for product integrity. Check evaporator fan operation, coil ice level, door seals, and condensing unit.
Alarm 2 — High Discharge Temperature
Discharge line overheating. Check condenser cleanliness, condenser fan operation, refrigerant charge, and liquid line filter-drier restriction.
Alarm 5 — Defrost Termination
Defrost didn’t terminate at the expected temperature. Check defrost termination thermostat continuity and defrost heater element. On hot gas systems, check hot gas solenoid valve operation.
Alarm 6 — Fan Motor
Fan motor overload or failure. Replace if motor is seized. Check run capacitor on single-phase motors. Verify rotation direction after replacement.
Alarm 7 — Sensor
Air temperature sensor fault. Test NTC resistance, replace if open or shorted.
